Flat Twist Out

Last night took me almost four hours to get my hair done. I pre-pooed, deep conditioned and did flat twists. even made a leave-in conditioner for my daughter and I. I haven't seen the full results yet because my hair is still twisted. I sprayed my hair to make sure I had moisture today. I am learning that I need to start planning when I will do all of this to my hair to make sure I am doing all that I need to do. It is another job caring for my hair properly but I know that it will be worth it.

I used this recipe that I got in part from CurlyNikki.com

1 Tbsp honey (I used raw honey)
      1 Tbsp castor oil

I added 1/2 Tbsp organic cinnamon

I warmed this mixture up and stirred well and added it into my head little by little until I got all of my scalp good and then poured the rest in and covered with a plastic cap for 15-20 minutes before rinsing.

I haven't had much of a routine but I tried to start one last week. This week I sprayed the leave-in conditioner I mixed up and washing and conditioning my hair. I got this from YouTube but it is a combination of several recipes.

The leave-in consists of:
      1 Tbsp Honey melted slightly
      1 Tbsp Olive Oil
      1 Tbsp Coconut oil melted
1 Tbsp of shea butter (I need to get the liquid version)
      1 can of coconut milk
5 drops of rosemary essential oil
      5 drops of vitamin E
      1 cup of spring water
1/2 cup aloe juice and gel

I blended it all using a hand blender and put it into spray bottles. I keep the mix in the refrigerator. When using I shake well then spray.

After spraying my hair I used my mix of castor oil, shea butter, coconut oil, and vitamin E to oil my hair and protect my ends. I then used WonderCurl's Get Slick Hair Smoothie and Butter Than Love Hair Pudding and flat twisted my hair. So far my hair seems to like the mixture. I will know what it looks like in the morning when I take the twists out.

I need to purchase some satin hair rollers. I forgot I had them when I was rolling my ends. They will keep my hair better protected. I need to make sure I have enough for me and the little Diva.

Freshen Up

I have been cleaning the past two days and even though my hair was covered I have to freshen it up. I won't be per-pooing tonight because I really don't have time but I will try and make sure that my hair looks fresh and ready to go for the rest of the week.

I am so not ready for this week but I have to do what needs to be done so I can get there. Maybe once I wash and set it this time I will like it tomorrow. We shall see.

Hair Journey

I have actually been on my natural hair journey for over a year but I have been lacking in a few things along the way. Recently I have found more information and learned about some of the things I have been doing wrong. My hair is very coily, has a lot of shrinkage and can get extremely dry.

I wasn't pre-pooing, deep conditioning or even doing a wash n go correctly. Light bulb went off and I thought no wonder I feel like my hair isn't growing or becoming what it could. Well now that I know better it is now time to make changes and do it right. This will not only help me but my daughter as well. You live and learn.

So I did my first true wash n go, I am not sure if I like it because my hair has so much shrinkage but I am going to work with it. My next time washing my hair I will try a flat twist out.
